How often should I visit the dentist?

We generally recommend all of our patients to visit at least once every six months for a detailed cleaning and examination. However, those who are receiving gum therapy will need to attend more often, typically once every three to four months. This gives us a chance to catch dental issues before they become serious problems that require extensive and more costly treatment.

Do you replace missing teeth?

We absolutely do! Not only can we replace teeth via dental bridges and dentures, but we can also place dental implants. Whether you need to replace a single tooth in your smile or all the teeth in your top or bottom arch, Dr. Novak and Dr. Johannsen are the experts to see. Our restorations are fully customized to your exact preferences.

My tooth hurts. What should I do?

Beacon Dentistry does everything it can to help those experiencing dental emergencies the same day that they occur. The last thing we want is for you to put off treatment, so start by calling our office so we can get you scheduled for a same-day appointment. You can also take ibuprofen to reduce discomfort until you arrive. Check our emergency page for more information.

Can I bring my youngest family members to the office?

Dentistry is important at all ages, and there’s no exception when you visit Dr. Johannsen and Dr. Novak at Beacon Dentistry. We’ll make sure that your child has a positive first impression of our office. After all, the initial visit is incredibly important to making future appointments more fun, lively and relaxing. Our wide range of children’s dental services ensures you don’t need to travel all over town just to keep your child’s oral health in check.

How can I straighten my smile?

If your concern lies with maintaining your smile’s current appearance during treatment, you’ll find clear aligners from Clear Correct™ to be ideal. These removable, custom trays are designed to gently shift teeth into a straighter and healthier position overall. They are the best way to resolve mild to moderate levels of misalignment and gaps in your smile without the use of metal brackets and wires.

Can you fix my chipped tooth?

We can fix chipped or damaged teeth in a number of ways, whether the damage is largely restorative or cosmetic. For example, we can use cosmetic bonding to hide chips, cracks and gaps, typically within a single appointment. Porcelain veneers can also be used to hide all three simultaneously. Both have their own pros and cons that Tom or Garrett will discuss during your consultation.

Do I need to have metal restorations placed in my mouth?

Not necessarily. If you need to restore damaged portions of your tooth enamel, you can do so with tooth-colored materials from our office. Instead of relying on silver or amalgam metals to create dental fillings or crowns, we use composite resin and porcelain. Not only do these work to restore the functions of your teeth, but their appearance as well.
